What is Advocate for dogs?

Advocate for dogs is a medication that is used to protect dogs from a range of parasites, including fleas, ear mite, lice, heartworm, and intestinal worms. It contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid and moxidectin.

How does it work?

Imidacloprid is a type of insecticide that works by interfering with the nervous system of fleas and killing them. It is also effective against other types of insects, such as lice and mites.

Moxidectin is a type of antiparasitic drug that works by interfering with the nervous system of parasites, such as heartworms and intestinal worms, and causing paralysis and death.

When Advocate is applied to a dog’s skin, it spreads throughout the body via the dog’s skin oils and provides long-lasting protection against a variety of parasites. It is usually applied once a month, and the dosage is based on the dog’s weight.

How to apply Advocate for dogs

Step 1: Remove the Advocate applicator from its packaging.

Step 2:Hold the applicator upright and twist the cap to break the seal.

Step 3:Part the hair on the dog’s back at the base of the neck, between the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible.

Step 4:Place the tip of the applicator on the skin and squeeze the tube firmly to apply the solution directly onto the skin.

Step 5:Repeat this process at one or two additional spots along the dog’s back, depending on the dog’s weight.

The recommended dosages for Advocate are as follows:

For dogs weighing up to 4 kg (8.8 lbs), use the Advocate for small dogs (green pack) containing Imidacloprid (40mg) and Moxidectin (10mg).

For dogs weighing 4 to 10 kg (8.8 to 22 lbs), use the Advocate for medium dogs (aqua pack) containing Imidacloprid (100mg) and Moxidectin (25mg).

For dogs weighing 10 to 25 kg (22 to 55 lbs), use the Advocate for larg dogs (red pack) containing Imidacloprid (250mg) and Moxidectin (62.5mg).

For dogs weighing 25 to 40 kg (55 to 88 lbs), use the Advocate for extra large dogs (blue pack) containing Imidacloprid (400mg) and Moxidectin (100mg).

For dogs weighing over 40 kg (88 lbs), use an appropriate combination of Advocate tubes.
