What is Simparica?
Simparica is a medication used for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations in dogs. It is an oral chewable tablet that provides fast-acting and long-lasting protection against fleas and ticks. The active ingredient in Simparica is sarolaner, which belongs to the isoxazoline class of drugs known for its effectiveness in killing and controlling external parasites.
The medication works by interfering with the nervous system of fleas and ticks, leading to their paralysis and subsequent death. It starts killing fleas within 3 hours and ticks within 8 hours after administration. Simparica’s efficacy lasts for about 35 days, ensuring continuous protection for dogs against these pesky parasites.
It is essential to follow your veterinarian’s instructions and use Simparica as directed for optimal results and safety. Additionally, always consult your veterinarian before starting any medication to ensure it is appropriate for your dog’s specific needs and health condition.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Simparica is for use only in dogs, 6 months of age and older. Simparica may cause abnormal neurologic signs such as tremors, unsteadiness, and/or seizures.
